EF-017 – Like-for-Like Replacement in French Standard Housing
Normally, the objective of a renovation outlet has remained unchanged. Type E is the designation for the socket type in the French region and regions operating on the French standard, featuring a dual round electrical socket for the current pins and a protruding socket earth pin in the body of the socket which makes contact with the corresponding hole in the plug. The voltage and current parameters for this type of socket are 16A and 250V respectively, similar to the Schuko family of sockets in this classification.
Why specify a compact panel for French standard housing?
In the case of older French standard residence, it is often the case that the sockets are positioned in the tiling, mouldings, and plaster that has already been put in place. When using a 73mm panel height, there is a more leniency concerning where the new panel will sit in the existing box.
Can a Schuko socket be used as a replacement instead?
While the two formats are almost the same in their day-to-day application, the arrangement of the earth connection is different in both cases. The use of the original market’s format is consistent with the installation of the earth connection of the equipment and that is the reason why EF series provides both options.
Is a USB version available in French format?
Certainly, EF-020 and EF-021 incorporate USB-A as well as Type-C charging into the French socket at 5 volts 2.1 amperes as well as 20 watts, respectively, with both within one suitable panel, meaning the additional charging points can be placed without a separate plate during renovations.
Does it fit older wall boxes?
