British Standard Double 13A Switch Socket
The DN71408/DN71412 is a dual socket that meets British standards and is rated 13A. It is will fit into a relatively compact 88×146mm wall faceplate and provides two BS 3-pin electrical power sockets divided into two gangs so that two electrical devices can use the same power from the wall socket at one location. The convenience of this 2 gang socket makes it suitable for any location that needs two electrical appliances to get power from the same socket at close distance, i.e. kitchen worktops for a kettle and a toaster, TV points for a television and a sound bar (home theater), computer desks in the office for a computer and a monitor, etc. Each of the two sockets works with a separate switch and has a neon indicator light, thus providing independent controlling of the power supply and being able to check the power supply separately for each of the two sockets. The socket is offered with SP (Single Pole) or DP (Double Pole) switch option depending on its safety requirements. The contacts of the socket are 0.6mm phosphor copper with a permanent circular retaining ring locking the pin of the plug inside socket. The mechanism of the switch is made of red copper and works with Φ3×25mm silver alloy contacts. Besides, the socket is available in three types of premium panels: PC, tempered glass, and brushed aluminum. The product is certified by IEC and carries a 12-year warranty.
We are a direct-from-manufacturer supplier who provides great prices on bulk orders and OEM branding options for all types of panel materials within the DN71 series range along with a guarantee period of 12 years.

Two Independent Sockets — Each with Its Own Switch and Neon
This dual socket has two separate BS 3‑pin sockets integrated within one 146mm panel. Each socket has a separate rocker switch and neon indicator light, allowing customers to switch off the kettle socket and keep the toaster socket activated, and vice versa. There are SP or DP Switch versions of this socket available, which tailor the degree of safety to meet the requirements of a room. The SP is intended for normal areas, while the DP Can be used for areas with more demanding safety regulations like bathrooms and kitchens. A single 0.6mm phosphor copper contact with a fixed ring maintains the same contact while inserting plug thousands of times. The red copper and silver alloy contacts make sure of a good switch performance. The middle plate, made of steel or covered in plastic runs across the whole width of the double panel and stops any flexing that may occur during plugging and unplugging. The baby skin printing makes sure that the panels of the sockets are clean and without fingerprints. The sockets are certified by the British standard for use in countries that follow British standards.
The DN71 series includes this twin BS socket which has a baby skin print finish. This twin socket utilizes the same materials for making panel parts as other series products, such as single sockets, light switches, doorbell switches, and DP isolators, and it has the same four finishes and baby skin print surface treatments. In the kitchen, you can have a DN71408 double socket installed for your toaster and kettle right next to the DN71 single sockets and light switches, containing the same panel profile, surface, and colors. The mounting dimensions of the double socket are the same as in the case of all other products, amounting to 88×146mm, which makes this product compatible with any standard double-gang British back box. In addition, the panel comes in White, Gold, Gray, or Black finishes, which keeps up with the popular trends in color scheme.

Double vs Single UK Socket: When to Choose a 2 Gang Switched Socket for Your Project
A practical guide to specifying twin British standard 13A switched sockets for residential, hotel, and commercial power outlet installations.
Double Socket vs Single Socket — When Do You Need Two Outlets at One Wall Position?
The DN71408/DN71412 double switched socket is suitable for any wall location where two electrical devices are frequently within reach of power at the same point in time. Kitchen countertops: Getting the kettle and the toaster plugged into the same socket easily allows one double socket to take care of both devices. Living room TV points: You can connect both TV and sound bar or streaming box to the same socket. Work desks: Connecting computer and monitor appliance provides freedom from monitoring the computer directly since it can be turned off while the monitor is either working or going to sleep. Bedside tables: You can plug the lamp and the phone charger to the same plug point since they can be switched on or off separately.
SP vs DP — Which Switch Type for Your Double Socket?
SP (Single Pole): The standard UK socket configuration – Each switch interrupts live conductor only. This is applicable to the living room, bedroom, and the usual power outlets around the house. DP (Double Pole) – each switch interrupts both live and neutral and thus gives high security in kitchens, bathrooms, and any other place where appliances can be exposed to water. In both cases, independent switching and neon operation exist for each socket.
Panel Material Selection — PC, Glass, or Aluminum?
PC with baby skin printing: A cost-efficient type with an upscale silky sensation, it is intended for residential projects. Tempered glass with baby skin finish: A glossy and extravagantly smooth kind of glass, it is the highest class choice for expensive residences and boutique hotels. Brushed aluminum with baby skin finish: It has an industrial metallic appearance with an unexpectedly soft touch — perfect for modern commercial buildings. All three sockets go with the identical twin BS socket design and a 12-year warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a double 13A switched socket?
A switched double 13A socket is a type of socket that consists of two separate independent UK powered BS 3-pin sockets that are housed inside one plate in the wall. Each outlet has its own neon light and rocker switch. The DN71408/DN71412 is a DN71 made switched double socket that has the baby skin printed finishing with two 13A powered outlets, each of which is controlled by the rocker switch independently from one panel of 88 mm × 146 mm. It replaces two standalone sockets with one neat-looking installation that saves wall space as two outlets are available in the DN71 style.
What is the difference between SP and DP on this double socket?
In typical rooms, the live wire is switched off with the help of SP (Single Pole) which is the usual configuration of UK sockets. DP (Double Pole) operates the switching of both live and neutral lines at the same time and as such should be the preferred choice in kitchens, bathrooms, and any place where full disconnection is critical. It is worth mentioning that for both options the individual switch and neon indicator to each socket are provided.
Can each socket be switched independently on this double socket?
Indeed, each of the two 13A sockets on the DN71408/DN71412 have independent rocker switch and neon light indicator. You can switch off the kettle socket while leaving the socket for toaster live as each socket operates completely independent of each other. The rocker switches along with the neon light indicators have been wired differently in the same 146 mm panel.
What panel materials is this double UK socket available in?
You can get DN71 series double 13A switched socket in three front panels each of which is treated with baby skin printing. Each of them features imported high-transparent PC (high durability and affordable with a gentle feel on touch), tempered glass (elegantly shiny and very smooth with resistant to fingerprints), and brushed aluminum (the metallic minimalist look, yet surprisingly tender touch). All three options are the same in dimensions (88×146mm), socket design (twin BS socket), and warranty term (12 years).
