Key Features & Typical Use
Two Plates or One
In instances where two circuits are required at one particular site, two plates are needed unless a double switch is utilized. In such instances two plates also imply that two boxes, two cut-out holes and enough space for both plates is put into use. This requirement may not be met in narrow wall sections like door returns or the gap between frame and corner hence the use of a double switch in a smaller panel is called for.
Stacking Is the Problem, Not Width
If the wall is narrow, the plates will usually be placed one on top of another. For example, if two 80 x 80 mm panels are placed one behind another on a narrow wall, that would form a column of both plates. In this case, it is much more important to lower the height of the 80 mm panel to 73 mm than to increase the width since it is the vertical nature of the panels that gives the most appropriate look for a narrow wall.
Independent Rockers
The rocker switches operate independently of the rest of the circuit so that one of the circuits can be activated without any effect on the other circuits. For example, in a single switch there can be two circuits performing two different functions such as lighting a room and activating an extractor fan in that room.
Both Rockers Single Way
The two varieties of switches are referred to as single way switches in that they control circuitry from a single location. If, however, any of those circuits need another control point, the alternative to the switch is a two pole two way device EF-007 that resembles the first switch after installation in terms of appearance.

EF-006 – Solving the Narrow Wall, Not Just the Circuit Count
There should be two circuits required for one entrance as per the standard requirement of the two circuits i.e. the lighting circuit for the room, outside lighting circuit, and the circuit for the main light along with that of the extractor and ceiling lights. The problem about where the circuit is installed does not revolve around the requirement of the circuit but rather the wall which is to host the circuit because usually in the process of renovation, the wall ends up narrower than one may have thought and also is usually finished.
There is no requirement for usage of a second plate because of the double switch, and its size of 80 x 73mm contributes to the neatness. In cases where the installation needs a second control point in any of its circuits, a second point can be achieved by using an EF-007 two gang two way module with no requirement for additional space, as switching is possible in both gangs.

Buying Guide
- Survey the positions where two lighting circuits meet at one point.
- Check the available wall space, both width and height, against the 80 x 73mm panel.
- Confirm whether either circuit needs a second control position, which would require EF-007 rather than EF-006.
- Decide whether the position is supplied as a finished plate or as modules with a frame.
- Approve a sample plate against the adjoining finishes.
- Confirm quantities and configuration with our team.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I use a 2 gang switch rather than two single switches?
When two circuits are used at the same junction, the double switch saves one wall box, one cut-out, and one plate, which makes it cheaper to use and more attractive on the wall, especially when space is limited due to the refurbishment.
What is the difference between EF-006 and EF-007?
Both of them act as gang switches. The EF-006 has both the rockers in one way, while the EF-007 has both in two-way – this means either circuit can be worked from the other position too. They are indistinguishable once installed, hence the wiring diagram determines which one is bought.
Can the two circuits be switched independently?
Indeed, the rockers are electrically insulated from each other, thus allowing each circuit to be either ON or OFF independently, and if needed, the circuits can also have separate protective devices fitted at the distribution board.
Is the panel compatible with an existing 80 x 80mm box?
The switch is installed flush with the wall box and the size of the panel is 80 mm by 73 mm. When changing a unit, it is necessary to measure the size of the opening and the position of the fixing centres and compare them with the dimensions of the panel, as the dimensions of the existing boxes may be different.
Can it share a frame with a socket?
Absolutely. The switch is obtainable as a module for the EF frame system, and thus a two gang switch module can be installed next to socket or data modules in the same frame where device mix at a respective location requires.
Can EF and square panel formats be ordered together?
The panel varieties have the same working procedures, and both are engineered through the same tooling technologies, therefore mixed orders are typical for refurbishment operations in which some items require like-for-like replacement.
