Why the Mid Rating Sells
The 500W module is the one most often specified in residential work because it covers the common living space without being oversized. Buying a dimmer far larger than the circuit needs adds cost for no benefit, and the three ratings in this series exist precisely so that circuits can be matched rather than over-specified.
Fits the Modular Plate
The dimmer is an 80 x 80mm module and shares the frame system with the rest of the series, so a dimmer can sit beside a second dimmer for a separate circuit, or beside switches and sockets, in the same plate. Multi gang frames let several dimmed circuits be grouped at one position.
Consistent Design across Ratings
All three load ratings use the same housing, plate material and frame interface, so a project mixing a 500W living room dimmer with a 300W bedroom dimmer and switches elsewhere presents one consistent appearance. Only the internal rating differs, which keeps the visual specification simple.

E10-033 – Matching the Dimmer to the Circuit It Actually Controls
The 500W module exists because most residential dimming circuits are neither tiny nor enormous: they are a living room with several fittings, or an open plan space with a run of lamps on one group. Sizing a dimmer is an arithmetic exercise — total the lamps, then choose the rating above that total — and the mid rating is what the answer usually comes out at.
Keeping the three ratings in one housing is also a stock argument. A distributor carries 300W, 500W and 1000W modules in the same plate and frame family, so a dimmer point can be supplied correctly whatever the circuit turns out to be, without carrying three separate product designs or explaining a different appearance for each rating. Lamp technology and minimum load should still be confirmed against the project specification before the modules are ordered.

How many lamps can a 500W dimmer control?
The limit is the combined load of the lamps on the circuit rather than the number of fittings. Add the wattages together and keep the total within the module’s 500W maximum; circuits with smaller totals can use the 300W module instead.
What is the difference between the 300W, 500W and 1000W dimmer modules?
Only the maximum load differs. All three are the same 80 x 80mm module in the same plate and frame system. Selection is a matter of adding up the circuit’s lamp load and choosing the rating above it, so the 500W version suits a living area where the 300W version suits a single small group.
Do I need to check the lamps before ordering?
Yes. Confirm the lamp technology and any minimum load requirement against the project specification, because those affect whether a given dimmer controls the circuit well. Send us the lamp details with the enquiry and we will confirm the appropriate module.
Can two dimmers be fitted in one plate?
Yes. Each dimmer is a separate 80 x 80mm module, so two dimmed circuits can be controlled from a two gang frame at one position. That avoids two separate plates for what is visually one control point.
Is the dimmer available as a finished plate?
The module is supplied for E10 frames, and orders can be placed as finished plates or as modules plus frames depending on how the project is assembled. The supply format is chosen with the order, as with the rest of the range.
Can we order all three load ratings together?
Yes. Because the three ratings share housing and plate, a mixed order across 300W, 500W and 1000W modules is normal, and MOQ is confirmed per item with the quotation. OEM branding is available on all three.
